Team Rocket finally lands in Pokémon TCG Pocket
After several weeks of rumors, it’s now official: Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is getting its first themed expansion dedicated to Team Rocket. Named Team Rocket’s Ambition (internal code B4a), it will be available starting August 26, 2026 at 6:00 PM (Pacific Time), which corresponds to a release on August 27 in France.
This is a single themed pack, in the same vein as the mobile game’s previous “themed booster” expansions.
100% Team Rocket cards
The new official trailer revealed a good portion of the expansion’s content. The artwork depicts Team Rocket grunts in the middle of their schemes, alongside their Pokémon, with the famous “R” logo adorning certain cards.
Among the cards already revealed:
- Team Rocket’s Mewtwo, the only 3-diamond card unveiled in the trailer
- Seven 2-diamond cards, including the Team Rocket versions of Persian, Arbok, Lapras, and Hypno
- Two brand-new Trainer cards: Thieving Machine and Master Plan
- A 2-diamond Marowak which, notably, does not belong to Team Rocket
- Team Rocket’s Houndour, the only 1-diamond card shown so far
Other cards, such as Articuno, have also been spotted in the promotional visuals, while even cards not directly tied to Team Rocket (like Marowak) discreetly feature grunts in the background.
Starting August 31, exclusive covers and backgrounds featuring the Team Rocket Boss and his Persian will also be available.
Related events
The expansion’s launch comes with several in-game events spread over the coming weeks:
- Late August – mid-September: Team Rocket’s Ambition emblem event, allowing players to earn emblems based on the number of wins and complete missions to obtain shiny powder and other useful items
- Late August – late September: special missions allowing players to obtain Team Rocket “shady tickets”, usable in-game
- Early to late September: special solo battles allowing players to win B series vol. 12 promo packs, featuring Team Rocket’s Lapras
- Mid to late September: Wonder Pick event allowing players to obtain the Fennekin and Meowstic promo cards
A “Great Puzzle Challenge” has also been announced: by solving puzzles on a dedicated website during the event period, players will be able to obtain series codes redeemable for pack hourglasses in-game. More details will be shared on release day.

Team Rocket’s Ambition marks a first for Pokémon TCG Pocket: the arrival of an expansion entirely dedicated to the franchise’s most famous criminal organization, a theme that has historically been very popular in the physical card game. Plenty to reignite collectors’ interest just days before the back-to-school season.
