Pokémon TCG Pocket has officially pulled back the curtain on its next expansion: Ruler of the Skies (B4). The official trailer is now live, confirming what dataminers had been teasing for weeks — Mega Rayquaza ex is the star of this new set.
Release timed with the tabletop launch
Ruler of the Skies arrives on July 30, 2026 at 1:00 AM UTC (July 29 at 9 PM ET), timed to coincide with the launch of Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution — Delta Reign, the physical card game’s own Mega Rayquaza-themed set. This is the eighth major expansion for the mobile game (the twentieth overall release counting mini-sets), following Everyday Wonders (B3b), which launched at the end of June.
As with recent releases, the expansion will ship with just a single pack design, the Mega Rayquaza Pack, suggesting a smaller set — but one that could hit hard in the competitive meta.
Cards revealed so far
The trailer, along with The Pokémon Company’s accompanying press materials, has revealed several cards:
- Mega Rayquaza ex — the set’s flagship card, likely Dragon-type, though its HP and attacks are still hidden in the trailer.
- Absol — 70 HP; Enhanced Blade deals 20 damage, plus 30 more if this Pokémon has a Tool attached.
- Dragonair (Full Art) — 80 HP; Draconic Whip deals 40 damage, and its Dragon’s Blessing ability lets you attach an extra Energy.
- Skyla — lets you switch your Active Stage 1 Pokémon with one of your Benched Pokémon.
- Rainbow Cave — a Stadium card that lets each player discard the newly spawned Energy from the Energy Zone once per turn.
- Wally — lets you take a Normal Energy from your Energy Zone and attach it to a Stage 2 Pokémon.
More cards are expected to be revealed in the coming days as the July 30 release approaches.
What to expect
After Everyday Wonders, a cute but competitively underwhelming set in the eyes of much of the community, Ruler of the Skies looks set to bring a much more battle-focused lineup, with several high-potential ex cards. It could be exactly the meta shake-up players are looking for.
