The Pokémon Company revealed Dual Fusion today, October 20, 2026: the next expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket and the first of the new C series. Its big hook is a mechanic the app has never had before: dual-type cards, Pokémon that carry two types at once.
Release date and time
Dual Fusion launches on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PDT, which is Thursday, October 29 at 2:00 a.m. in France, Germany and Spain. It lands just ahead of the game’s second anniversary.
Dual-type cards make their debut
The two headliners are:
- Mega Mewtwo X ex, a Psychic and Fighting dual-type;
- Mega Greninja ex, a Water and Darkness dual-type.
The idea is straightforward: a dual-type card has two types. When it attacks an opposing Pokémon, it can use either of its types to hit a weakness, so Mega Mewtwo X ex can deal extra damage to anything weak to Psychic or Fighting. On defense, weakness works as printed on the card: Mega Mewtwo X ex takes an extra 20 damage from Darkness-type attacks.

First cards revealed
Beyond the two Mega Pokémon ex, the reveal includes:
- Mega Dragonite ex
- Pikachu ex
- Fuecoco ex, one of the first-partner Pokémon getting ex cards in this new series
- Mew ex
- new cards and illustrations for Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise

Six rental decks and a free elite deck
From launch until December 15, 2026 at 5:59 p.m. PST, six Dual Fusion rental decks let you try the set without opening a single pack. The decks built around Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex are the best way to learn how dual types play.
Every player will also receive a Dragon-type elite deck in their Gifts, featuring Mega Rayquaza ex and Dragonair from Ruler of the Skies, plus Gouging Fire from Paradox Drive.
New: First Partner special packs
The C series also introduces special packs featuring special cards of the first partner Pokémon from the 9 regions of the main games, including Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Piplup and Fuecoco.
Opening them requires a special pack stamina, which recharges once a week. The packs are available from October 31 to December 26, 2026.
