The 2026 Pokémon World Championships weekend in San Francisco was one to remember, with the inaugural PokémonXP event, a new crop of champions crowned, and a string of major announcements during the closing ceremony. Chief among them: the destination for the 2027 World Championships.
Singapore to host the 2027 edition
The Pokémon Company has confirmed that the 2027 Pokémon World Championships will take place at the Singapore EXPO from August 13 to 15, 2027. This marks a long-awaited return to Asia, a region that hasn’t hosted the event since Yokohama, Japan, in 2023.
The announcement also closes out two consecutive years in the United States (San Francisco in 2026, following Honolulu in 2024). Competitors across Pokémon TCG, the Pokémon video games, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE will now head to Southeast Asia for this 22nd edition of the World Championships.
The Pokémon Company has not yet confirmed whether a PokémonXP event will run alongside the 2027 Championships, as that fan convention is only planned for select years. More details on venue specifics, ticketing, and qualification are expected in the coming months.
